What is GST withholding?

If you are selling new residential premises or new residential land, you must give the buyer a notice saying whether GST applies to the sale. If it does, the buyer pays the GST to the Australian Taxation Office at settlement rather than to you.

For more on the scheme, see the ATO’s website. If you are not sure whether your sale is caught, see legal advice.
